What type of certification is better, Cisco CCNA or Microsoft MCITP

In this thread I want to discus what certification path is better, Cisco CCNA and next levels, Microsoft MCITP and next levels or other. Did the CCNA or the MCITP certification path is more valued than others? And I have to study English language in written form of course.

Does it have to be an either/or question? CCNA deals with networking, MCITP mostly deals with the server-side. I'd get both, and not stop there. If you intend to pursue a career in networking only, by all means, get a CCNA, and follow up with a CCNP, CCDA, CCSP,and something non-Cisco. If you want to be a jack-of-all-trades (you gotta study more, but finding a job is much easier, and the pay's generally better, if you're good at it), get both, and many more. In the end, certs and a degree will help you get past the HR, but your actual skills and how you present yourself are what will determine whether you'll get a job or not. Of course, you can also just collect certs, they look good for potential clients, and some companies need certified people in order to maintain their Silver or Gold Partner status within the Cisco, Microsoft, etc. channels. In either way, getting certs won't hurt, but keep in mind that your actual skills are what will deterine your value as a specialist. Also, when you study for the cert, don't just try to prepare for the test, but learn the underlying theory as well. That's where the certification training is quite valuable, as it provides the framework for your studies, and the main shortcoming of the IT people of today is the lack of grounding in theory. That's why there're many IT engineers, but not nearly enough senior engineers. Hands-on can only take you so far.

Hi everyone. I believe that does not exist a better certification, except if it is that same segment like cisco certifications "CCNA >CCNP >CCIE". All of them have your prestige. In Brazil it is very valued like graduate and fluence in English. I have a CCNP certification and if anyone want talk about this certification or another things related network administration and security please send me a e-mail.
